What is the Partnering on Education Tools (POET) Web site?
The Web site was developed by the Office of Education and Special Initiatives (OESI) of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) as a resource for Partner Organizations and those interesting in partnering with us on cancer education.
What is a Partner Organization?
A Partner Organization is an organization that has agreed to work with the OESI at the NCI on cancer education. Examples of partner organizations may include advocacy groups, patient service organizations, health professional organizations, groups focusing on medically underserved organizations, Federal partners, and nontraditional organizations, such as faith-based groups, labor unions, social and civic groups, and community organizations.
Partner organizations may be involved in activities including:
- Serving working groups for concept development
- Reviewing educational materials
- Assistance in pilot testing materials
- Promotion and dissemination of education materials
- Conducting evaluation with target audiences
- Conducting trainings using materials
In return, partner organizations receive special partner-only benefits that are determined at the time the partnership is established. Depending on the project, benefits may include:
- Increased ordering capabilities
- Technical assistance in education program planning and training
- Tailored materials
- Opportunity to input on national level initiatives in cancer education
- Co-branded, ride-on, and other alternative printing options

You can click on the four red buttons from any page in POET to get to the different sections of POET, described here:
- Home: POET's home page is http://ncipoet.cancer.gov, the page you came from to access this page. The home page contains a description of partnership and the overall purpose of POET. The home page contains a "Quick Links" bar on the left, with links to items such as this page, a page with FAQs about partnership, and a "Contact Us" form. The "Quick Links" bar also contains a "login" box where, if you are a partner, you can use your Username and Password to log onto the site and access the information related to your partnership with OESI.
- Become a Partner: The Become a Partner page lists the various project and programs on which OESI works with partners. OESI and their partners work together to promote, disseminate, and evaluate NCI's educational materials. On this page you may click the links of the various projects to view descriptive information, and whether or not the project currently has formal partnering opportunities.
- For Partners: Similar to the home page's "Quick Links" bar, the For Partners page contains a "login" box where, if you are a partner, you can use your Username and Password to log onto the site and access the information related to your partnership with OESI. If you are not a partner and are interested in becoming a partner, please fill out this form.
- Contact Us: The Contact Us page contains a form you can fill out to provide us with any questions, concerns, or feedback, and we will respond to you as soon as possible.
